The purpose of education is life enhancing: it contributes
to the whole quality of life....In the next century, the economically
successful nations will be those which will become learning societies:
all are committed, through effective education and training, to
lifelong learning. So, to be a successful nation in a competitive
world, and to maintain a cohesive society and a rich culture,
we must invest in education to develop our greatest resource our
people.
