4.8 The development of a learning culture will also help to challenge prejudice in all its forms, enhance tolerance and underpin the values of a civilised, pluralistic and inclusive society. In addition, lifelong learning will constitute an important element in the fight against social exclusion and poverty. It will improve the chances of moving towards greater social cohesion, help to achieve fewer social divisions in our country and foster greater international understanding.
