Since we were established, in June 1997, we have met on four occasions. As well as holding our meetings, we have received over two hundred written submissions from organisations and individuals concerned with lifelong learning and have drawn on them in producing this advice. We intend to produce a separate report, based on analysis on those submissions later. In addition, the Chair and other members of the Advisory Group have begun an extensive programme of meetings and consultation around the country. We intend to continue that work once this initial advice has been provided and following the publication of the White Paper on lifelong learning.
