A New Opportunity for Mature Students at the University of Leeds

27 January 2004

Starting in October 2004, the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds is offering a new four-year extended degree scheme. The BA (Hons) Social Science has been designed to meet the particular needs of mature students and offers access to higher education for people without standard entry qualifications.

The first year of study provides students with a range of appropriate academic/study and personal skills which will provide a suitable foundation for university study at undergraduate level. On successful completion of the first foundation year students can then progress to a wide range degree programmes within the Faculty of Education, Social Science and Law at the University of Leeds. This include degrees in education, law and criminal justice studies, politics, social work and sociology and social policy.

All students who successfully complete the first (foundation) year of their four year programme will be guaranteed a place on at least one of the degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Education, Social Science and Law.
