DfEE wishes to establish a service
which is local, accessible, of good
quality and coherent.
Future Prospects,York
Sandra Furby described the key
features of the outreach service of
Future Prospects' IAG Pathfinder
project. The project is focused on
providing a service in the community,
securing the confidence of partners
and clients and providing a
client-centred, holistic approach.
Issues:
- Provision for adults and young
people needs to be coherent at
local level
- As a public service, clients needs
should be identified. The service
also needs to be impartial and
independent
- The need to involve voluntary
organisations in information, advice
and guidance
- How the Pathfinder projects relate
to the University for Industry
- The role of local Learning and Skills
Councils in driving policy in this
area - how much autonomy will
they have?
- Need to increase the amount of
guidance in IAG
