Workshops

Developing a Communications Strategy & Marketing the Partnership

Jenny Gorman, Dudley Learning Partnership

Key Issues:

  • The workshop made clear that there were different messages each with a different audiences. The messages were aimed at:

    • selling the concept of learning and learning opportunities

    • marketing the Learning Partnership

    • communicating within the Learning Partnership.

Each of these would need its own approach.

  • There were a wide variety of resources available for implementing a marketing and publicity strategy. It was felt that a good logo helped to establish identity, which was important in relations with other bodies such as Government Offices, Regional Development Agencies and employers, but less important to individual learners and potential learners - 'real people'. Contacting such people often required developing informal contacts.
