The National Policy Framework and Action Plan

This document contains a National Policy Framework for IAG services, which defines at a national level the information and advice services which adults should be entitled to expect and the standards to which those services should be delivered. It also includes an Action Plan which sets out how consistent, high quality and accessible IAG services for adults will be delivered.

Key Areas

The work of the Team covers three major areas:

  • Policy Development
    The team has responsibility for the continued development of the national strategy and policy for IAG services for adults.

  • Quality, Research and Evaluation
    The team has responsibility for the quality of IAG delivery primarily through the matrix Standard; and proving the economic case for IAG through relevant research and evaluation, including the recently completed Adult Guidance Pilots.

  • Planning and Financial Management
    The team has responsibility for the budget and team plans, including payment of invoices, monitoring and planning of the budget, overseeing the LSC remit, and ministerial correspondence and briefing.

The Role of the Learning and Skills Council

The LSC has day-to-day responsibility for the overall management of IAG services in England. Visit the LSC website at www.lsc.gov.uk.
