6.6 We have already invited views on our commitment to broaden A levels and improve vocational qualifications for young people. Our recent consultation Qualifying for Success included proposals for a single overarching certificate which would become the benchmark for attainment at advanced level, giving credit for both breadth and depth of study. We believe that all young people should have the chance to show what they have achieved. We will be announcing shortly how we intend to proceed in the light of advice from the QCA.
