Recommendation(s): 11

Recommendation 11: We recommend that: institutions of higher education, over the medium term, integrate their careers services more fully into academic affairs and that the provision of careers education and guidance is reviewed periodically by the Quality Assurance Agency; the Government, in the medium to long term, should integrate careers advice for lifelong learning, to complement services based inside higher education institutions.

2.3 Good careers education and guidance are vital in helping people to choose the courses and careers which are right for them and to maximise their opportunities. What is provided within higher education will be reviewed periodically by the Quality Assurance Agency. In addition the Government will be addressing, with interested parties, the scope for closer working between careers services within and outside higher education.
