Projects managed by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education

NIACE-managed Projects

ACLF projects overseen by NIACE cover a range of learning goals and curriculum areas including environmental issues, sports, family learning, citizenship and community activism.

Funded projects aim to reach new learners. Learner-centred approaches are combined with capacity-building in the community. Projects may arise from a community activity or issue; they are then developed into worthwhile and sustained learning experiences.

Outcomes might include:

  • improved confidence and sense of personal or collective worth;
  • specific skills in arts, crafts and business;
  • volunteering;
  • basic and key skills.

Some programmes are accredited. All these outcomes are important in widening participation in learning.
